Guess what…today is National Cookie Baking Day! Nothing says Christmas more than cookies! It is only fitting that I do a cookie post today, right?! Not fitting though, I am not a food blogger nor do I claim to be a great cook in the kitchen. So, you are not going to find a cookie recipe here but you are going to find a sweet story about sweets (you see what I did there).
I LOVE cookies and baking. Even more than sugar, I love the nostalgia and memories I have from baking Christmas cookies. Some of my favorite memories as a child are baking with my mom and brothers. I swear she baked 10 million cookies. During the month of December, you could find just about every type of cookie in our house. Sugar, gingerbread, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal scotchies, and “Christmas Bark”. Freshly baked wth love for the entire neighborhood. Of course we all love those sugary treats, but what I love more is who I am baking the cookies with and who we are baking the cookies for. After becoming a mom, I appreciate so much more the memories and moments of Christmas traditions and ritutals. Baking cookies, decorating them, and taste testing them (hey, someone’s gotta do it!), are some of the best memories of childhood. I am so happy I can continue these traditions for my children and make new memories.
So, take some time to unplug, blast the Christmas music, make your favorite cookie dough, and while your making cookies…make some memories.
